Secondhand designer bags, checked before they go live

Every listing is reviewed by our curation team

Looking for a Chanel Classic Flap, an Hermès Kelly or a Louis Vuitton Speedy without the boutique waiting list? You're in the right place. Whoppah has curated secondhand design since 2019, and our bags selection follows the same rule as everything else on the platform: every listing is reviewed by our curation team before it goes live, every purchase is covered by buyer protection, and insured shipping options cover the bag while it travels. Start with the shape you actually carry: shoulder bags, crossbody bags or tote bags. Or go straight to the house: Chanel, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Dior and Gucci all have their own pages. New to buying secondhand? Read our guide to buying secondhand designer handbags, see how Whoppah curates every bag, or compare us with the other European platforms in this honest overview. Twelve subcategories run from clutches to travel bags, so the fastest route is usually the specific shelf. Prices move with the market. The checks stay the same.

Are the designer bags on Whoppah authentic?

Every bag is reviewed by our curation team before it goes live. The review checks that everything about the listing agrees with itself: photos of the exterior, interior, corners, hardware and the serial or microchip area, a described era that matches the details shown, and a price within honest reach of the market. On a Chanel, for example, the details should match a serial sticker on a pre-2021 bag or a microchip plate from spring 2021 onward. Listings that don't hold up go back to the seller with questions or are rejected. No marketplace can promise perfection, which is why buyer protection covers every purchase on top. The full process is described in how Whoppah curates every bag and our cross-brand authentication guide.

How does buying a secondhand bag on Whoppah work?

You buy directly at the asking price or, where the seller allows it, place a bid. Payment runs through the platform and is covered by buyer protection, and shipping options include insured delivery, so the bag is covered while it travels. If the bag that arrives doesn't match the listing, you contact our support team and the case is resolved under our returns policy. The practical details are on how it works.

Which secondhand designer bags hold their value?

The models with the longest track records are the ones buyers keep coming back for: the Chanel 2.55, first made in February 1955, the Hermès Kelly, named in 1977, the Birkin, introduced in 1984, and the Louis Vuitton Speedy, in production since 1930. Condition, hardware and completeness (dust bag, authenticity cards, receipts) move resale prices more than most people expect. We put numbers on it in the handbags that hold their value in 2026.

Can I sell my designer bag on Whoppah?

Yes. Photograph the bag honestly (exterior, interior, hardware, and the serial number or date code), describe the condition and set your price. Listing an item takes a few minutes. Our curation team reviews every listing before it goes live, so sharp photos and proof of purchase speed things up rather than slow them down. And if a listing is rejected, it isn't personal: most bags pass on the second try once the photos or details are fixed.
