History behind the design
In the late 1950s, designer architect Arne Jacobsen was asked to design the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. Because his design philosophy led him to believe that architecture and design should blend together, he also took on the interior design. Jacobsen designed the Egg Chair for the hotel's lobby and lounge areas. A striking feature of the design is that it "envelops" you, so to speak, and therefore offers a great deal of privacy.
