How does buying and selling designer bags work?

With the launch of our new 'Handbags' category, you can now also buy and sell the most beautiful vintage and pre-loved designer and premium bags via Whoppah. Think of bags from brands such as Sandro, Jacquemus, and Chloé, to timeless icons from exclusive fashion houses like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Hermès.

To ensure that buying and selling goes smoothly and safely, we have listed the most important rules and information for you.

1. Authenticity & Replicas

At Whoppah, quality comes first. Replicas or counterfeit items are not allowed on our platform. Even if it is explicitly stated in the advertisement that the item is a replica, the ad will be immediately rejected during our curation process.

Our curation team, which specializes in designer bags, carefully checks every bag to guarantee its authenticity. As a buyer, you can purchase your dream bag with 100% certainty and complete peace of mind.

2. What commission percentage do I pay for handbags?

We apply a reduced rate for the handbags category! The commission for selling handbags is only 5%.

How does this work in your account?
In your account settings, you will continue to see your standard commission percentage (16% for business sellers or 12.5% for private sellers). However, as soon as you select the 'Handbags' category when creating your advertisement, the reduced commission of 5% will be automatically applied to that sale. You do not need to adjust anything yourself.

3. Shipping and liability

As a seller, you have three options for shipping handbags: shipping as a postal parcel, via custom delivery, or having the buyer collect the item (pick up).

  • Responsibility: Please note, the responsibility for safe shipping rests with the seller at all times.

  • Liability: Whoppah cannot be held liable if an item is damaged or lost during transport. Exactly the same rules apply here as for the sale of furniture.
