Design tables: from dining table to coffee table

Eating, having drinks, working, crafting and, above all, chatting a lot. The design table (or just as well the 'normal' table) is the heart in the home. The day is discussed at it, traditions are formed and happy memories with your love, family and friends are made at it. The majority of living rooms used to be filled with an oblong table. Today, that is a different story. Organic shapes, oval designs and especially the round table are in great demand.

Large collection of tables

Need something different? At Whoppah, we have a wide collection of second-hand designer tables. Some design classics are 60 years old, while others are less than a year old. From design tables that tick off the Scandinavian look to elegant Italian design, industrial interior style and country design. What they all have in common is their second-hand (and often vintage) nature. Better for your wallet, better for the environment. To the table!

Our selection

Check out tables from well-known brands such as Pastoe, Knoll, Vitra, Harvink, Bert Plantagie, B&B Italia or our beautiful vintage dining tables.

Different types of tables

Previously, all types of design tables are grouped under the same heading. Time to make the distinction.

First the second-hand coffee tables, centrepiece in the living room. Handy for parking drinks on or for cosily placing a bunch of flowers and other accessories on it. As a radiant centrepiece, it is all the more important to realise that the material, style and size are determining factors. For example, a glass table gives a much lighter effect, than a solid wood designer table. Keep it nice and airy, keep it spacious.

Second, the dining table. The place where hours are spent at dinner every week. Where joys and sorrows are shared. Because the (second-hand) design table should really last for years, it is all the more important to find out what types of design tables there are.

To get a good idea of what is available, you would do well to look at design tables from well-known brands, such as Pastoe, Knoll, Vitra, Harvink, Bert Plantagie, B&B Italia and Fritz Hansen. Or what about a vintage dining table? If we may give a tip, we advise against falling for a trendy designer table. Preferably buy a design table that is timeless. Not that you're already tired of it after four seasons. Would be a waste for the wallet and mother earth.

Whoppah

Let Whoppah be brimming with second-hand designer tables. Vintage and more newfangled versions. Why we focus on that branch? Much vintage ('from a good year') is made of high-quality materials, making it a smart investment for years to come. Plus, the charm splashes off. Good to know is that team Whoppah curates all design tables (and other design furniture too, for that matter). This assures you of quality as a buyer. Want to sell a second-hand design table instead of buying it yourself? Create an ad via the website or app and in no time an enthusiast will be found for the design piece.

How do you find the ideal table?

The coffee table is mostly the centre piece of the living room. You can find them in all styles and materials, but think carefully before buying a coffee table. Not only is the material very decisive, but also the size. A small glass table gives a completely different, much lighter effect, than a solid wood table. Make sure the table compliments the room and contributes to a spacious feeling. Don't go cramming and make sure you can walk well around the table.

The side table is often confused with the coffee table. But the side table is usually smaller and higher and is used to put something small on. It is a good idea to think about the height of the occasional table beforehand. Visualise how high the table needs to be to be able to reach it easily when sitting next to it. If you want to use the table to put a sculpture or lamp on, think about how high it will look best and what design will go well with it.

The dining table is perhaps the trickiest to purchase. A second-hand designer table is a durable and important purchase and should perhaps last 10 years. Therefore, be wary of trends. You might like a trendy funky dining table with all kinds of details for one season, but after that you won't. Therefore, choose a table with a timeless design. Simple and sturdy. With the right styling, you can always add your funky touch. Read more tips on how to find the best second-hand designer dining table here.

Sell Design tables?

Create an advertisement via the website or app and quickly and easily sell your second-hand design table to an enthusiast. The table can be collected from you by the Whoppah courier and will then be delivered to the buyer.
