About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is the 'Platon' or 'Cajus' dining table, designed by Tomas Jelinek for IKEA in 1984. The piece is a representative example of postmodern design, characterized by the combination of industrial-looking materials and a sculptural form.
The table consists of a rectangular smoked glass top resting on a chromed tubular steel base. The construction of the base, with its crossed rods, provides both stability and striking visual dynamics. This design is a characteristic example of the 1980s aesthetic, where functionality and distinctive design come together.
The overall condition of the table is good and consistent with its age. The glass and chrome have retained their original finish and show a character appropriate for a vintage piece of furniture. The construction is solid and the table is fully functional.
With its clean lines and transparent top, this table fits well into various interior styles, from vintage and eclectic to modern. It can serve as a compact dining table or as a spacious desk in a home office.
