Joe Colombo for Comfort, armchair model 'Elda', fiberglass, leather, Italy, design 1963, later production.
The 'Elda' chair is one of the best-known designs by Italian designer Joe Colombo. This lounge chair is one of the first designs to make extensive use of the new material fiberglass. Joe Colombo named this design 'Elda' in honor of his wife. The white fiberglass shell features cognac leather cushions that support the sitter from all sides. The way the leather is tufted into thick tubes uniquely characterizes the 'Elda' lounge chair.
The chair 'Elda' is also represented in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Louvre in Paris
