Paeonia is the botanical name for the Peony. A historic flower dating back thousands of years, the peony is known as the flower of wealth and honor. The original artwork for this collection is derived from the first series of pattern books, which date back to the 18th century. Designed in the Chinoiserie style, popularized in the eighteenth and eighteenth centuries through an obsession with the Orient, the style depicts the region as a realm of giant flowers, small trees, temples, pagodas, extraordinary brids and flocks of outstanding butterflies
