It is a minimalist hanging lamp made of plastic.
The symmetrical luminaire housing is made of translucent plastic (Rotaflex) and has a grooved structure all around.
Due to its special materiality, this luminaire functions as an elegant object both when it is switched on and when it is switched off.
Rotaflex was founded in 1953 under the leadership of Bernard Stern, who in just a few years took the company to the top of the British lighting industry.
The company won several designer awards during this time. Heifetz Manufacturing Company (founded by Yasha Heifetz New York) is the American brand that sold these lamps in the US under the name Heifetz Rotaflex.
These types of lamps belong to the history of lighting design and are rare objects. The name Rotaflex refers to the innovation used: wrapping with
cellulose acetate material (first forms of plexiglass). Because of this, it was often thought that these lamps were made of glass until they were discovered
held.
These lamps are very beautiful because of their simplicity. Fit nicely in a modern interior with objects from the same period. The lamp is in top condition despite its age.
