This breathtaking designer coffee table is a design by Isamu Noguchi for Vitra/ Herman Miller. With its sculptural organic shape and glass table top, this table balances on the edge between art and furniture. Noguchi (1904-1988) was an American sculptor with Japanese roots. The work and life experience that Noguchi gained in various cultural circles is reflected in his works of art and furniture designs, which are characterized by an organic design language. That style is also clearly reflected in the design of this coffee table from 1944.
The table consists of three elements. The thick glass plate (19 mm) of the table top rests on a solid wooden construction of two shapes that together form a tripod. Despite its delicate appearance, it is a strong table. A timeless classic that fits in both a modern and a vintage interior! The wooden base is finished with a matte black lacquer and looks like new. The glass plate does show minor signs of wear, but is still in very neat condition considering its age.
