Very rare and unique umbrella stand made from 3 German shell casings or obuses from the First World War, marked GFSP at the bottom and dated 1915. The umbrella stand is decorated with brass lion heads on both sides and bronze feet in the shape of lion claws. This is a one-of-a-kind collector's item, very high quality and robustly manufactured in the first half of the 20th century, a unique object that tells a story and is a conversation starter, moreover very decorative and functional, highly sought after by militaria collectors or lovers of unique objects. GFSP stands for Geschossfabrik Spandau, a German ammunition factory located in Spandau near Berlin. German casings from Spandau belong to very heavy German artillery; it is most likely a casing for a Mörser, a very heavy German mortar or howitzer. Casings for this cannon are relatively wide and strikingly short in shape. This unique umbrella stand is in very good antique condition, the whole bears a beautiful age and use patina, check the photos for more details! Dimensions: 30×23.5x71cm. Weight: 12.9kg.
