rare and quite large glass table lamp from the 1970s.
Equipped with a semi-transparent glass shade in a perfect spherical shape where a white tint has been added to the glass in a special way (not sprayed). The white spreads from bottom to top, with one side covered slightly more than the other.
The glass is blown into a mold and fused at the bottom edge. The glass is quite thin yet sturdy. At the bottom edge there are two "natural" bumps that we almost always see on fused edges of glass shades. The edge disappears into the aluminum base of the lamp and the shade is held in place with three hand-operated bolts.
The aluminum of the base is slightly shiny on the outside, making it look as if a thin layer of chrome has been applied. The shape is a typical space age/atomic age design.
