A striking set of four handmade Zig-Zag chairs, based on Gerrit Rietveld's iconic design from the 1930s.
The chairs are made of solid wood with a warm, dark stained finish and closely follow the characteristic, cantilevered geometry of Rietveld's Zig-Zag chair. The construction is particularly interesting, with visible metal connecting strips, recessed bolts, dovetail joints, and triangular wooden reinforcement blocks at the corner connections.
The backrests feature the characteristic horizontal grip, while the visible construction and connections give the chairs a distinct architectural character.
Although clearly inspired by Rietveld's design, the chairs differ in construction details from documented examples manufactured by Gerard van de Groenekan; they are therefore offered as handmade examples 'after Gerrit Rietveld' (without attribution to a specific maker).
