ROSENTHAL STOCKMAYER ART NOUVEAU Jugendstil Asian Décor VASE
Being offered on this auction is a vase made by Rosenthal porcelain manufacturer, Selb, Bavaria, Germany. Design is by the well acknowledged artist Fritz (Friedrich Karl) von Stockmayer (1877 – 1940). He designed for several porcelain makers in Selb. He worked for Rosenthal in 1932 – 1940 and was the artistic leader from 1935. His artwork was influenced by Asian designs. It is decorated with branches and leaves, blooming pink flowers.
Vase has an off-white/mother-of-pearl background with a little grey flavour. It has a delicate tan rim. It is fully glazed and has a velvety touch. Looks splendid. Vase is marked on the backside with the standard ‘Rosenthale Kunstabteilung’ mark in green. This mark identifies the original production of 1946 (see document attached as last photo). Other marking is the writing ‘Handgemalt’ (hand painted) and the production painter's initials.
At this time, the Rosenthal factory was run without Rosenthals. They fled out of Nazi Germany and, in 1946, were still out.
H: 17,5 cm W: 9 cm
