Ronald Boonacker (1955) is self-taught. Lives and works in Amsterdam, but also has a studio in Acapulco, Mexico. Boonacker is known for his brightly colored landscapes. He is inspired for this by the many trips he has made and continues to make to Spain, Italy and Brazil, among other places. At the same time, each work is based on Dutch, traditional landscapes and still lifes. When Boonacker wants to capture a particular environment, he first makes a watercolor of it, which can then later serve as a reminder when he begins a painting. The enormously warm feeling radiating from the tropical beaches, islands and sunsets in his work is related to Boonacker's positive outlook on life.
