About the artist:
• A painting must be autonomous for me. Corrie van Heijst graduated in 1974 from the St. Joost Academy in Breda. She mainly makes paintings in oil, but also drawings, watercolors and serigraphs. Her work can be found in collections of private individuals and companies at home and abroad.
• The strength of her paintings lies in the tension between what can be seen and what is suggested. The space for ever new associations ensures that the work continues to fascinate. Corrie lives and works in Breda.
• Corrie van Heijst's paintings are expressionistic with an abstract character. Usually the work is figurative and monumental. She usually paints female figures, but other subjects are also occasionally involved, such as bowls and masks.
