Poul Henningsen designed the three-screen system in 1925-1926. The first lamps based on this system were designed by PH in collaboration with Louis Poulsen for an exhibition in Paris. This collaboration lasted until his death in 1967. PH 80 is part of PH's three-screen series. PH designed not just a lamp, but an entire system - about a thousand different models were produced over the years. PH was the first to approach lighting in a scientific way, using the logarithmic spiral as a basis. By applying a design based on the logarithmic spiral, he managed to achieve uniform light distribution over the entire curve of the screen.
The lamp was created in 1974, when PH had already passed away, in honor of the fact that he was born eighty years earlier - hence the name PH 80. The original PH 80 designed in 1974 has a characteristic red top reflector that creates a warm atmosphere. and spreads atmospheric light. The opal acrylic shades give the lamp a fresh look and emit a pleasant diffused light. The lamp is in very good condition with minimal signs of age and use.
