Seat made of red beech slats. All parts glued and inserted. No metal screws.
The Tübingen chair was produced for decades by the Schäfer chair and furniture factory in Tübingen.
At the end of the 1920s, the architect and designer Prof. Adolf Gustav Schneck of the Kunstgewerbeschule Stuttgart was commissioned to develop a chair design for Schäfer.
It became a prototype of the new objectivity. Beautiful minimalist design.
Due to its robustness it became street furniture for restaurants and event locations.
The offered chair is in very good original condition. No damages. Not wobbly.
With the original manufacturer's label and another sticker for the care of the chair.
A design icon from the 1930s with a lot of history. Also exhibited in the city museum of Tübingen Germany.
Rare to find in this very good condition.
