Egon Hillebrand founded his light fixture factory in 1881. Egon was originally a plumber and installer. The factory was located in Neheim, Germany on Mohnestrasse. In the early days, the company was mainly concerned with making cover plates for German stone beer mugs, metal household utensils, kerosene lamps and storm and wagon lanterns. Around 1900, son Franz joined the company and the factory was converted so that repair work could also take place for electrical light fixtures. In 1936, Franz’s eldest son, Egon, joined the factory, which from then on focused on developing office and desk lighting. The factory was closed in WWII and reopened in June 1945. In 1954 Hillebrand launched the ‘Leuchtspiegel’ on the market. A mirror surrounded by lighting that is mounted invisibly behind the mirrors. There is collaboration with Ernest Igl (1920-2001), an industrial designer from Prague, and new materials are used such as perforated metal for, for example, the hoods of fluorescent lighting, but also to hide the lamps behind, for example, the mirror. The manufacture then mainly focuses on the development of lighting for restaurants, decorative home lighting and object lighting. The factory was closed in 1995.Goede conditie passend bij leeftijd en gebruik.
