Background of the hotel:
The Casino Estoril in Portugal has a rich history and is known as the largest casino in Europe. It opened in 1931 and has played a prominent role in Estoril's social and cultural scene ever since.
During World War II, the casino served as a meeting place for spies and diplomats, earning it the nickname “the spy's nest.” The casino also served as the inspiration for Ian Fleming's James Bond novel "Casino Royale".
