The poster has never been hung and is in excellent condition.
This photo exhibition in Schiedam provided a unique glimpse of Paris in the 1950s. The title refers to the admiration for the Parisian capital. The photograph shown is by Fred Brommet.
This photographer, born in Groningen, traveled from Amsterdam to Paris after the war. There he learned the photography trade and built up a thriving practice with reportage work and later studio photography. His images from that time, ‘Tableaux Parisiens’, are of impressive quality: photographs of both everyday and chic life in Paris, which are more reminiscent of the work of someone like Robert Doisneau than that of a Dutch photographer.
After the Paris uprisings of 1968, assignments dried up and he returned to the Netherlands. The Maria Austria Institute in Amsterdam manages the Fred Brommet archive
