About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
The Knoll International Barcelona Chair, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, is a defining piece of twentieth-century modernist furniture. This specific example is a rare limited edition, numbered 23 of 100, produced in 1981 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Knoll International Germany.
Constructed with a polished chrome frame, the chair features the iconic scissor-like profile that has made the Barcelona model a staple of design history. The upholstery is crafted from ivory leather, arranged in the signature tufted grid pattern, supported by matching leather straps. The piece is accompanied by its original certificate of authenticity, dated December 3, 1981, confirming its provenance and limited production run.
The chair remains in highly presentable condition, retaining its structural integrity and the original finish of both the metalwork and the leather. The materials have aged gracefully, preserving the character expected of a vintage piece from this era.
This chair serves as a focal point in both residential and corporate environments, complementing minimalist, mid-century modern, and contemporary interiors. Its architectural form pairs well with clean-lined sofas and glass or marble coffee tables.
