This chair is called Vilbert and was designed by Verner Panton. It was launched in 1993 and finished in 1994. Verner designed it for IKEA, which had it in stores for a short time. Only 3,000 to 4,000 Vilbert chairs were produced. Because sales were not as good as expected, many chairs were withdrawn from stores and, according to some, even taken out of production to be destroyed. Today, these chairs have become rare items.
Verner Panton was one of the most influential figures in design history, legendary for pushing the boundaries of form and materials in the 1960s and 1970s.
This rare Vilbert chair is in good condition and still has the original label. It is made of high-quality melamine board.
