Very large painting (232cm x 95cm) in a new black frame by Georges le Poitevin.
Some scratches visible, but not distracting, especially since the subject is a cave painting.
Georges Le Poitevin (1912-1993) was a French painter who, after having been an artist in residence of the villa Abd-el-Tif in Algiers, took part in several of the expeditions directed by Henri Lhote to copy the neolithic cave paintings in the Sahara desert. After stays in Ivory Coast and in Guinea, he remained in Algeria until 1992, and was curator of the Museum-site of Tipaza.
