French fateuil in good condition
An unusual shape and design give this wooden chair with rush seat and back its character.
The designer is (still) unknown but French sites refer to Charles Dudouyt and Charlotte Perriand.
There are very few of these chairs in circulation and, with the exception of a few, they are very difficult to find on the Internet. see Fig. 6, 7, 8 and 9 showing the same and similar chairs.
This fateuil was found in the 1980s in the junk attic at a flea dealer. The piped seat and back needed to be replaced but the woodwork was still good and intact.
