The Light Ball, a masterpiece by Achille Castiglioni for Flos from 1965, embodies the essence of Italian midcentury design. This rare lamp, which has been out of production for some time, is still in remarkably good condition considering its age. There are some scratches on it, but these are not actually visible when the lamps are hanging. The design conveys a refined elegance that is synonymous with Castiglioni's style.
The base of the lamp is made of cast aluminum and is topped with a plastic shade. The glass round ball can be attached to this, which gives the whole an elegant finish. LED or smart lamps can be attached to the E27 fitting.
The Light Ball is a wonderful example of the partnership between Achille and his brother Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, who together created many iconic designs. Achille Castiglioni was known for his curiosity and his ability to transform everyday objects into beautifully designed pieces. The design of the Light Ball reflects this philosophy by using simple shapes and materials to create a timeless and functional lamp.
This is a brown version of the lamp (we also have a white lamp available). The price is per piece but we can also make a price for the set of two.
