After Arne Jacobsen designed the entire SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, he was given the opportunity to design the interior and furniture as well.
The iconic Egg Chair was designed as seating furniture in the lobby and reception areas of the hotel.
The armchair is considered a true work of art.
The fluid soft shapes of the chair make it very attractive and inviting to linger in.
The final production model consists of a shell of firm foam & is upholstered in fabric or leather.
This was exceptional & very innovative in the 1950s.
The upholstering of the shell is still done by hand to this day.
The chair stands on a cross-shaped base & is also swiveling.
With this chair, Arne Jacobsen made history.
The side chair is really in top condition and has a very generous appearance within the interior. Is a first edition that dates from the 60s.
