DEATH NYC
Death NYC is a street artist from New York.
She grew up in New York and was exposed to different cultures, which made her question the things she saw on the street. This experience is crucial in choosing her pseudonym and approach.
Death prefers to remain anonymous so that she can maintain her freedom to work on the streets. Initially, Death painted on walls and floors of regular stores in the Soho and Chelsea neighborhood. Her pseudonym is actually an acronym of "Don't Easy Abandon The Hope," which is often misleading to the public, especially when the artist writes her slogan "Death is free" on the street.
In her work, Death mocks the media by distorting the images of popular culture. One of her most famous works is the depiction of Mao Zedong with a pink bow in his hair and pink lipstick.
