Description
beautiful large color screenprint by Corneille from 2004. Sheet size 60 x 42 cm in new condition. Hand signed and numbered edition of 200 copies. Comes with certificate of authenticity. The number may differ from the photo. Corneille was born Guillaume Cornelis Beverloo in Liege in 1922. He trained at the Amsterdam Academy, but was largely self-taught. He was one of the founders of the COBRA movement and was a highly prolific artist, producing an enormous amount of paintings, sculptures and prints. Initially strongly influenced by Picasso, but later with the stylistic characteristics of the COBRA, with which Corneille is very well known. Corneille worked abstractly, but from the 1960s he worked figuratively with well-known women, flowers and birds as subjects. He died in 2010.
