Clemens Briels (Son, 1946) is a Dutch visual artist. In 1965 he starts his education at the Academy of Industrial Design in Eindhoven with the aim of becoming an artist. Through various circumstances he ends up in the world of advertising. He becomes a successful art director but at the age of 46 he decides to become an artist for good.
Meanwhile, his artworks are included in several renowned art collections. Clemens Briels was the first Dutch artist chosen as "Official Olympic Artist" for the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City in 2002.
His work consists mainly of paintings and sculptures. His paintings are characterized by the use of bright colors and depth by applying relief to the canvas.
