Condition: used with minimal signs of use and signs of age to the plexiglass - chrome is in good condition - this is the model with transparent plexiglass as opposed to the brown color more often offered. Giancarlo Piretti was head designer and head of the development department at Anonima Castelli. Piretti designed the successful folding chair Plia in 1969. Piretti redefined the folding chair through his invention of the 3-disc hinge. This invention is seen by many as a stroke of genius. The combination of chromed metal and semi-transparent plastic made this this chair to become a true cult object. This folding chair is also in the design department of the MOMA in New York. Among other awards, the Plia won the German Gute Form prize in 1973.
