Eye catching colourful birdhouses made by Bomdesign from reused billboards. Extremely reused and sustainable and the birds totally love them! Since 2004 Bomdesign makes Booklamps and other products from used materials, their designs were nominated in 2009 for the 'European Environmental Design Award' in Madrid. Bomdesign handcrafts these billbirdhouses in his studio in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Each bird house has its own unique typographic design and the touch of the artisian. These nests are frequented by great tits (Paridae), koolmees, pimpelmees, sparrows or other finches of a similar size. The side of the birdhouse can be opened to clean the nest box. A great present for any bird lover. Fans have said "in just two weeks I had lodgers in the billbirdhouse" Materials: Reused durable upcycled Finnish birch multiplex billboards. Perches are made from found handles. Dimensions: 20 x 17 x 44 cm (7.8 x 6.7 x 17.3 inches) They can be shipped worldwide, if you country is not listed please ask for an estimate. The birdhouses can also be picked up in Rotterdam. The practice of salvaging discarded materials to create novel designs is at the heart of Bomdesign's work. The divers output, next to that of his Billbirdhouse series, includes booklamps and comic lamps and chairs made out of recycled billboards and a pencilholder made from vinyl records. The chosen materials come from their direct area; from a market, a secondhand shop or out of a container on the street. Bomdesign finds it important to implement qualities of the old material and to accentuate the beauty thereof in his new designs. He tries to achieve a balance between the used material and the new product. "You want to create a new design which captures the special quality and beauty of the old material." Through their designs Bomdesign hopes to inspire people. "If we study the proces of recycling in nature, we can learn that old things can be used in the birth of new things. That discarded materials are not useless but can still have another function. I hope that my designs contribute in people becoming more concious about how they could live in balance with their surroundings and minimise their impact on the environment. I wish that we could live in complete sustainability.
