This iconic “Bijou” table or desk lamp was designed in the 1950s by the famous architect and designer Louis Kalff and produced by Philips. The demand for this design classic is many times greater than the supply of remaining high-quality lamps of this model.
The lamp has a beautiful brass tripod base and tripod and a soft vintage ocean blue-green mushroom-shaped shade with an opening in the center. White color on the inside. This model is one of Kalff's best-known UFO-shaped models, together with the Minou model. This “Bijou” model has a conical center section, where the Minou model has a straight rod-shaped center section. The two models are often mentioned in the same breath.
The lamp has an E27 fitting. A 'bowl light' is usually used. These are lamps with an opaque finish on the top of the lamp which is shaped like a bowl and is typically silver in color. When using this lamp, the light is spread by directing the emitted light back into the fixture.
The lamp is in excellent condition with normal signs of wear consistent with its age. The paint of the metal parts was completely restored with ultra-matt paint protected with a clear coat. A detailed overview of the signs of use can be found in the photos. The lamp has no dents.
