The Arts and Culture Award East Gelderland Bronze sculpture named Jaromir.
Designed by artist Adrianus de Waard (1923-2011)
Alias Adri "de" Waard
Signed.
Heavy sculpture of almost 24 cm. ! I am not a metal analyst but suspect bronze. Argumentation:
Non-magnetic
De Waard almost always produced bronze.
Patina appearance also indicates this contention.
By the way, with such a podium award, sculpture awarded to culturally outstanding winners, you can't bring in base metal.
This is a beautiful object.
What I could find on the internet, among others awarded to
writer Derk Jan ten Hoopen 2002
sculptor Willem Berkhemer and others.
You have the great Jaromir. That's this one.
You also have the little Jaromir that was awarded. I own that one, by the way!
JAROMIR A short story by the poet and writer A.C.W Staring: Staring loved sagas, legends and medieval stories. Well known are, his humorous stories about Jaromir. Four stories in verse form about a student who later becomes a traveling monk and is in constant conflict with the devil. Perhaps you know them: Jaromir at Prague, Jaromir at Lochem, Jaromir at Zutphen, Jaromir avenged. In Prague he cunningly manages to get bed and bread. And in Lochem he gets the clappers of the bells on his bald head.
