Empire is a top design bookcase designed by Swiss/Argentinian designer Alfredo Häberli for design label Quodes.
Retail price EUR 3695, now EUR 2395. Color: light grey RAL 7035. In consultation another color.
Clarification: we have a new cabinet, whose gluing will be repaired and then repainted. This cabinet is then like new. The cabinet can be finished in light gray like the first picture, but in consultation can also be in another color, such as white, black, orange, brown.
The design has been exhibited, among others, at the Museum für Gestaltung in Zurich (Switzerland) and the Kunsthalle in Cologne (Germany). Articles about Empire have been published worldwide and a French journalist from Le Figaro characterized Empire as "Design Pur"! Empire in brown.
Dimensions: 200 cm high, 45 cm wide and 35 cm deep. Made of lacquered MDF with textured lacquer, see detail photo. The cabinet consists of 21 different panels, all with different angles, i.e. building and lacquering this cabinet requires a lot of craftsmanship.
Quote from the designer: "Again, I am fond of books. With Empire I wanted to create a very small bookshelf (or for other things), one that you have in a corridor, behind your bed, in a corner, placed just inconspicuous in a space. In the meantime, Empire is a vertical sculpture full of books."
