The No Sign Of Design chair, designed by Richard Hutten in 1989, is a striking anti-design statement. Hutten created this chair as part of his graduation project at the Design Academy Eindhoven. With the simple, functional design, Hutten wanted to defy the decorative aesthetics prevailing at the time. Today, the chair is part of the Lensvelt collection. The chairs can also be seen at Amsterdam's Stedelijk Museum, where they are used with accompanying tables in the museum café. The chairs have extra reinforcement wood at the bottom of some of them, see photo. These were once bought in the Gispen Factory in Culemborg. Lensvelt sells/works together with Gispen so it is possible that these are the first prototypes. On 1 chair you can still see numbers in pencil. This is also the first version, you can see this at the top of the backrest how bar is attached to the backrest. In a later version this detail has been changed. Chairs are otherwise in good condition.Due to age, the wood has darkened slightly.
