Offered for sale: 3 x Zeiss Ikon hanging lamps
The Zeiss Ikon lamp was designed by Adolf Meyer, a well-known Bauhaus architect. He was a teacher at the Bauhaus Institute in Weimar and also an assistant to Peter Behrens, the architect of the German embassy in St. Petersburg. When the Bauhaus moved to Dessau in 1925, Meyer decided to stay in Weimar and Dessau and started working as a self-employed person. Meyer was commissioned to work in the Bauhaus aesthetic, and his designs for lamps with a sophisticated and functional design that was both original and extravagant stood out.
The entire glass hood is mirrored on the inside in combination with the outside finished in a matte light gray coating. A characteristic element of Zeiss Ikon production is the mirror reflector on the inside. This is able to amplify the intensity of the lamp.
