Two armchairs by Martin Visser for Spectrum.
The SZ 01 armchair with a seat made of pulp cane, was designed by Martin Visser in 1960. Visser's handwriting is unmistakable in the apparently simple design. Like his colleagues Marcel Breuer and Poul Kjærholm, Visser designed his SZ armchairs in three versions: with upholstery (SZ 03), in saddle leather (SZ 02), and the SZ 01 in pulp cane. The chair's minimalist frame leaves plenty of room for the special craftsmanship of weaving pit cane.
The frame of the SZ 01 is, made of brushed, chromed metal. The seat and back are made of pit cane, a natural material manufactured from the solid core of peeled rattan stalks. One armchair holds as much as 320 meters of pit cane! The weaving of pit cane is carried out by local, specialized craftsmen. Pit cane exposed to light discolors over time. Through the hues that are created, the wicker comes more and more to life.

The chrome is in perfect condition. The pit reed is broken in a few spots. See photos.
