Two black leather chairs with armrests. Chairs are approximately 35 years old.
Quality leather and lacquered stainless steel form the basis for the Cab Mario Bellini - leather chair. Polyurethane foam is inserted into the back and seat, creating a piece of furniture with great seating comfort. The modern look also has something traditional about it, which makes the chair suitable for a variety of rooms and living styles. The seat's width and depth are 62 and 52 cm, respectively. The armrests are 64 cm high. The Cab Mario Bellini - leather chair has an overall height of 82 cm and a seat height of 45 cm.
This chair was new of its kind, made entirely of leather and has since been much cloned. Mario Bellini designed the Cab in the 1970s, a bestseller he designed and which is now a signature piece in Cassina's I Contemporanei collection.
Cab was the very first chair with a free-standing leather structure, inspired by how our skin fits over our skeleton. The upholstery consists of individual pieces of saddle leather. Individually punched, they then undergo fourteen procedures, again by hand. The pieces are sewn together only after their outer edges are trimmed for a perfect fit. Once assembled, the cover is attached to the steel frame of the chair and held in place by a zipper, as in a custom-made garment.Chairs have some signs of use in the form of scratches. Legs show obvious wear to the leather on the underside. Can be clearly seen in photo.
