Hampton Court Oneida Community CORONATION, silver-plated cutlery. The wood veneered case was not made for this cutlery, it is from Italy. There is minor damage to the veneer (see last photo, easily restored) and the fabric cover is discolored here and there.
The cutlery was made in honor of King George VI's coronation on May 12, 1937. Production continued after that, until when I cannot find out. I suspect they stopped in 1970 or 80. Indeed, there is also bistro cutlery, olive picks and long drink spoons. These are probably not from 1937. But it is a guess.
The cutlery looks attractive, with very light signs of use. On the bottom is a floral design.
The floral part is openwork except on the handles of the knives. The knives themselves are stainless steel, the handles were probably made in France.
There are 5 different knives including a butter knife and a fish fillet knife, 12 of each knife.
7 different forks, from pie fork to bistro fork, 12 pieces of each fork
7 different spoons, for soup bowl to teaspoon or long drink etc., 12 pieces of each spoon
The top drawer contains ladles, cake server, serving spoons, sugar bowl spoon and 2 soup or sauce ladles.
Showpieces are the meat fork and knife (in the second drawer) for serving meat.
In all, there are 248 pieces.
An original wedding gift, names and date can be painted on the box.
The box with contents weighs about 25 kg. Some parts we send separately, so the weight does not exceed 25 kg.
