19th Century French Faux Bamboo Campaign Armchair; Marked each side: "CL Brevetes SGDG"; CL = Guerry Paris; "Breveté SGDG was a French type of patent that ceased to exist in 1968. The name was a common abbreviation for "Breveté Sans Garantie Du Gouvernement“ (patent without government guarantees)." -text: wikipedia. Oak turned to look like bamboo, with the original patina and varnish; leather armrests are dried out, one broken, causing the chair to list to one side; this chair has ben reupholstered several times, alway by laying new fabric over top of the old (Antique) fabric, which after 120+ years is turning to dust; you are buying the frame and get the old upholstery to use as the pattern for the new; these were popular as folding country house chairs for their safari lounge style seating; folded: 120 x 59 x 16 cm; seat is 42 cm wide;heavy used
