Gerard (Ger) Lataster (Schaesberg, February 16, 1920 - Amsterdam, March 19, 2012) was a Dutch painter who is considered to be a member of abstract expressionism. Lataster, son of a miner, attended the Applied Arts School in Maastricht. He then went to Amsterdam where he studied at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten from February 1941 to August 1946. In 1948 and 1949 he was awarded the Royal Subsidy for Painting. He is considered one of the so-called "Amsterdam Limburgers", His work is represented in a large number of museum collections at home and abroad, including the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the Bonnefantenmuseum in Maastricht. His work was regularly shown at exhibitions at home and abroad and he can be considered one of the most successful Dutch artists of his generation. A hole in the sound (1988) Print-Multiple. Etching in colors/Arches (in folio) Graph, hand signed Complete editions of A hole in the sound by Ger Lataster and Bert Schierbeek. Ten etchings by Lataster with ten poems by Schierbeek. Each etching on 250 gram Arches paper, signed and numbered in pencil (3 of 35) by Lataster. The title page signed by both Ger Lataster and Bert Schierbeek. Published by Galerie De Bleeker from Heemstede in 1988. 35 copies were published and this is copy 3 Dimensions: 53 cm x 36 cm. The sheets are 50 x 33 cm. The dimensions of the etchings vary. Complete editions of this work are becoming increasingly scarce as they are stripped for the individual etchings. This copy is in very good condition. The etchings as well as the poems are framed and in excellent condition.
