1 orange, early edition 'Pastil' armchair, designed by Eero Aarnio in 1967. The following year he received the American Industrial Design Award. The New York Times wrote at the time about the Ball Chair and Pastil Chair: 'the most comfortable shapes for keeping the human body upright'.
To quote Eero Aarnio: 'The Pastil shape can be viewed from many angles, the product shape comes from a little cutie pie, pastil, but in this case the idea was that a lot of empty, muted space is sent to the other side of the world in the Ball Chair. A new round chair would fit in this space and so the diameter of the Pastil is equal to the opening of the Ball Chair. I made the first prototype from polystyrene, which helped me to verify the dimensions, ergonomics and rocking ability.
There are 2 pieces available. They are both in good, original vintage condition. There are some signs of use such as scratches, which is normal for its age.
