About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
Iconic large executive writing desk designed by Warren Platner and manufactured by Florence Knoll / Knoll, dating from the 1970s. A striking example of American Mid-Century Modern design, combining a generous black leather writing surface with a warm oak frame and polished chrome steel supports. The impressive proportions make it particularly suitable as a statement executive desk, studio desk or sophisticated home-office piece. The desk has three drawers and offers an exceptionally generous working surface of 228 × 110 cm. Details * Designer: Warren Platner * Manufacturer: Florence Knoll / Knoll * Period: 1970s * Origin: United States * Style: Mid-Century Modern * Materials: Leather, oak and polished chrome steel * Height: 74.5 cm * Width: 228 cm * Depth: 110 cm * Drawers: 3 * Condition: Good vintage condition There are signs of age and use consistent with a vintage piece, particularly to the leather and oak surface. The leather can be easily restored though. A comparable second-hand example from the same source where this desk was originally purchased is currently offered at approximately €6.800, making this an attractive opportunity to acquire a substantial Platner desk at a lower price. Collection / Transport: Because of its size and weight, collection and transport should be arranged by the buyer. The desk is a substantial piece and should be handled accordingly. Price: €4.250
