The Vitra Figura office chair, designed by Mario Bellini in 1984, is a characteristic example of postmodern Italian design. The design stands out due to the loose, pleated upholstery that drapes around the seat and backrest like a loose-fitting suit, a subtle reference to the art of tailoring. This version is upholstered in a dark blue textured fabric, accented by a cobalt blue panel in the ribbed connecting element. The chair is swivelable, height-adjustable via a well-functioning gas spring, and rests on a chrome-plated base with casters. The original Vitra label is present under the seat. The chair is in good vintage condition, with the upholstery complete.
