This vintage teak and copper coffee table is a square table with an acid-etched copper top and a teak base, in the style of Heinz Lilienthal. It originates from Germany, from the mid-twentieth century, within German modernist design of the 1970s.
Acid etching on copper was the technique that made the German artist Heinz Lilienthal recognisable, author of panels and tables with metal surfaces of abstract relief. This piece reflects that language, though it bears no signature or mark to allow a definitive attribution.
The base is solid teak, of straight lines and exposed corner joinery, and the top is a copper plate with an etched abstract motif, close to an aerial view of an urban grid. The pairing of warm wood and metal defines the character of the piece.
The copper patina has turned to warm, coppery tones over time, while the teak keeps its grain and a soft sheen. The whole shows light wear, consistent with its age.
For its low, square format, it serves as a coffee table before a sofa or as an accent side table. It fits mid-century, vintage and contemporary interiors, where the etched top brings a warm graphic focus.
