Offered:
A magnificent, vintage porcelain bowl with a matching saucer in the iconic Moroccan Taous (Peacock) style.
This crockery has an absolute cult status within Moroccan culture and was traditionally only brought out during large celebrations, weddings, and Eid to receive guests in style.
The design is inspired by the traditional Japanese "Imari style" and is beautifully detailed.
At the bottom of the bowl, a detailed peacock shines, surrounded by peonies, finished with refined golden accents (Kinrande). The edges are decorated with panels of traditional Asian carts/carriages and floral motifs in the classic palette of iron red, cobalt blue, black, and gold.
Mark:
Original red stamp on the bottom with the peacock and the Arabic text 'Al-Taous Al-Momtaz' (The Premium Peacock) and 'China' (produced for the North African export market).
Condition:
In very good vintage condition. The colors are still beautifully bright and the golden details are nicely intact (see photos).
▪︎ Style:
Vintage / Bohemian / Moroccan antique / Imari porcelain. A beautiful and unique collector's item for enthusiasts, or as an eye-catcher in a worldly interior!
Collection is possible by arrangement. Shipping is also optional; the item will, of course, be very carefully and thickly wrapped in bubble wrap to prevent breakage (shipping costs and risk for the buyer).
~ Bidding according to value possible via the bid button. Unrealistic bids will not be responded to. ~
