A striking vintage Gainsborough-style Captain’s Chair with Chesterfield influences, upholstered in richly patinated oxblood leather. Made by British leather furniture manufacturer Centurion Furniture plc, the chair combines a tall button-tufted backrest and seat with curved wooden arm supports, nailhead detailing and a solid wooden swivel base on casters. The original Centurion Furniture label remains attached underneath the chair and confirms the leather upholstery. Its distinctive oxblood finish combines deep burgundy tones with almost black areas of patination, giving the chair a strong character while making it particularly suitable as a statement desk chair in both classic and contemporary interiors. The chair is height adjustable, swivels freely and features an adjustable tilt mechanism. The mechanism is manufactured by Ring Mekanikk and marked “Made in Norway”. The upholstery remains firm and comfortable with no sagging to the seat. Based on its construction and original markings, we estimate the chair to date from the 1990s. Dimensions: - Width: approx. 60 cm - Depth: approx. 64 cm - Overall height: approx. 95–100 cm adjustable - Seat height: approx. 45–50 cm adjustable Condition: Good vintage condition with age-appropriate signs of use and a beautiful natural patina to the leather. Minor knocks and wear to some edges have been carefully touched up. The upholstery remains firm, supportive and very comfortable. Original manufacturer label present.
