Cours de pile, France
Product description
Beautiful, chic, mid-century vintage coffee table/cocktail table from France, with a green marble top on a brass frame, attributed to and reminiscent of the style of the Parisian design house, Maison Jansen, circa 1960s - early 70s. The rectangular gilded brass frame features a geometric "H"-shaped motif, combined with curved "u"-shaped edges, which end in ornamental decoration (see photos.) The marble top is known as "Guatemalan Green", a "serpentine green" marble with a deep, rich color and white veins, used by many architects and interior designers for luxury projects, because of the beautiful overall effect it produces. This color, in contrast to the brilliant gold color of the frame, the engraved decoration at the top of the 4 sides of the elegantly fluted legs, as well as the ornamental decoration of the base and leg tips, really make the glamour of this table, a conversation piece out of the competition. The piece remains in very good original and vintage condition, with some light marks, signs of age and previous use commensurate with time, as well as a patina of time, on the overall structure, top and legs (see photos.) ~ There are 3 light marks (no chips) as well as some micro-scratches on the finished marble coating, (please see photos next to a 1 cent coin, for perspective.) A few areas of slightly faded color on the frame and legs (see photos.) ~ The table is sturdy, heavy and solid. A fantastic, timeless piece that will blend perfectly with any vintage, mid-century, rustic, contemporary or Hollywood regency decor. Dimensions: Height: 44cm, Width: 90, 5 cm, Depth: 46 cm.
