A very beautiful vintage decorative tray highlighting an emblematic theme of mid-20th century decorative arts: nature and waterfowl. At its center is a charming animal scene depicting a pair of mallard ducks at the water's edge. The male, wings widely spread, joins the female duck among the reeds, aquatic foliage, and water lilies. The drawing is particularly fine, with beautiful detailing of the plumage and a deliberately soft palette where browns, grayish greens, blues, and natural shades blend. The design stands out against a patinated cream background whose texture evokes that of an old canvas. The subtle nuances, speckles, and deeper brown border have been crafted to give the piece its warm and slightly aged appearance, characteristic of decorative creations from the 1960s-1970s. Made from a particularly lightweight wood, a light wood or a wood-derived material, the tray has a beautiful rectangular shape with widely rounded corners.
