This is a vintage Decorative Objects from the American brand Department 56, dating from 1983. Known as "Le Mouton", this charming sheep figure is a collectible from the brand's earlier collections, valued for its simple and endearing design.
The figure has a body made of a thick, cream-colored woolly textile, which provides a soft and textured appearance. It stands on four sturdy wooden legs, which bear the stamp "Dept 56 © 1983". The head is made of a taupe-colored fabric and is decorated with a red ribbon and a small brass-colored metal bell. This piece was produced as part of the Department 56 line of gift items and collectibles, known for its seasonal decorations.
This "Le Mouton" figure is in very good condition, especially considering its age. The materials have been well preserved and have retained their original colors and textures. It presents itself as a complete and authentic example of this vintage design.
Please note: The internal bleating mechanism no longer makes a sound, which is very common after more than 40 years.
